For Barak to provide a funding facility which will enable the Borrower to source, manufacture and supply Electronic Products to the Off-takers.The project occupies 8000m2 of factory space in Boksburg, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The project occupies 8000m2 of factory space in Boksburg, the industrial region of South Africa. The factory houses all functions of the company from sales and marketing, procurement, logistics, manufacture, test, final assembly, quality control and transport. The company employs 300 people of which the vast majority are previously disadvantaged. The company recently started importing and supplying mobile handsets and tablets to blue-chip off-takers in the region.

POWER GENERATOR EQUIPMENT AND FUEL

For Barak to provide a funding facility which will enable the Borrower access to an equipment import finance facility for large-scale Power Generator Equipment.

The project is an independent power producer (IPP) based in Ghana. It specializes in providing custom engineering turn-key distributed generation energy solutions for mines, industries and utilities. The company engages in engineering, procurement and construction as well as operations and maintenance of its power generation assets and sells power and or/steam to clients.

FMCG MANUFACTURER AND EXPORTER

For Barak to provide a trade finance and working capital funding facility which will enable the Borrower to assist with its financing of goods locally and to Zimbabwe.

The project is the largest FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) manufacturer in Zambia and one of the major manufacturers in the sub-Sahara African region. The Borrower manufactures high quality branded detergents (liquids, powders and pastes), soaps, sweets, lollipops, confectionary and Soya Nuggets and distributes them throughout Zambia and the sub-Sahara region. The distribution is carried out by a combination of own fleet of vehicles, direct shipments and sub-distributors to enable them to cover the whole country and all sectors.

FRUIT JUICE CONCENTRATE PRODUCER

For Barak to provide a working capital funding facility which will enable the Borrower to produce processed orange and pineapple juice from its fruit farming operations.

The project is the largest juice processing and exporting company in West Africa with more than 300 workers and sources fruit from more than 3,000 small scale farmers in Ghana. The juice business spans the globe and includes sourcing, production, logistics, blending and sales. The main juice related products of the group include Apple, Pear, Pomegranate, Pineapple, Orange, Lemon, Lime, Sour Cherry, Tropicals and many others. Core sales markets are North America and Europe.

VANILLA COMMODITY PRODUCER & EXPORTER

For Barak to provide a commodity finance facility which will enable the Borrower to source vanilla from small-scale farmers in Madagascar through local procurement partners.

Natural Vanilla is a niche, supply-driven market of approximately 2,000 tons per year on average, predominantly originated in Madagascar for export to destinations in Europe and the USA. ** The majority of the suppliers in Madagascar is unsophisticated and can’t meet the expectations of the Flavour and Fragrance houses purchasing most of the tonnage who need a reliable supplier of traceable quality products. TThe Borrower will source through farm gate sales and manage interim storage and initial processing locally through joint venture entities with key local partners.

BLUEBERRY FARMING INFRASTRUCTURE

For Barak to provide a commodity finance facility which will enable the Borrower the exclusive patented rights to two stone fruit breeding programs and a low chill blueberry program for South Africa.

The genetics of the blueberries of this program allow these selections to ripen far earlier and produce far later than any other breeding program currently available in South Africa (an extension of the harvesting season). The major markets for the blueberry products from South Africa are UK, Europe, Far East and Middle East. RAISIN PROCESSING AND INTERNATIONAL EXPORT

For Barak to provide a stock purchasing finance facility which will enable the Borrower to purchase raw raisin product from the farmers in the surrounding farming region.

The sole purpose of purchasing raw raising product from farmers in the area is processing for sale into the export market. The project funding is to a privately owned company established in 2009 and based in Keimoes approximately 40km from Upington, South Africa. RedSun is a processor of high quality raisins, which are produced along the banks of the Orange River in the Northern Cape, for the export markets of North America, Europe, Africa and the Far East.
