The Barak Structured Trade Finance Fund (which is listed on the Irish Stock Exchange) and the Barak Commodity Derivative Fundare housed in a segregated portfolio company, Barak Fund SPC Limited, which is regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.

The funds are managed by Barak Fund Management Limited which is licensed and regulated by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission. Investment advice is provided by Applied Fund Managers (Pty) Ltd which is a licensed financial service provider approved by the Financial Services Board.

Barak Fund Management Limited is a niche fund management company that gives institutions and high net-worth individuals the opportunity to invest mezzanine debt in trade finance assets across more than 20 African countries. Investors can invest in the agricultural and trade finance value chain which gives them the opportunity to hedge against global inflation pressures gaining negative correlation to the cash, bond and equities markets.

Commodity Derivative Fund

The Fund will seek to invest in listed instruments with a focus on Commodities in particular Agricultural securities. The Fund has a fundamental bias which typically is supported by technical confirmation. A bias is further given to relative value trading which arbitrages the pricing mismatch between agricultural and other commodities.

The investment objective of the Fund is to maintain a balanced and diversified risk exposure that is positioned to maximise investment return. The Fund will seek to balance the emphasis placed on capital preservation, risk diversification and capital appreciation.

Structured Trade Finance Fund

The Fund invests in commodity-based and general trade finance transactions which are either import, export or general merchandising related Investments. The Fund may co-invest with banks and similar financiers and an emphasis will be placed on transactions demonstrating levels of security and liquidity deemed appropriate by the Investment Manager in consultation with the Investment Advisor.

Physical transactions typically involve an off-taker and investment decisions are based on trading principles rather than debt principles. Investments are entered into with counterparties well known to the Investment Advisor and track record of partnering firms is placed high on the list when investment decisions are made. Collateral management,monitoring or inspection is a pre-requisite to all Investments related to physical commodities and goods are insured
